JUST ANOTHER ADCS MAGI VICTORY!

Congratulations to our ADCS eSport League of Legends team for another dominant win over Xavier College Prep School to improve to a record of 7-3! Still cooperating with current state mandated conditions of staying in, these eSport athletes continued to practice and train with each other online while excelling at their classes online and came out strong to improve to #20 in CIF eSports through the wonderful playvs platform.  We are very excited about our eSports program which gives an opportunity for students who are talented in this regard to represent our school and even earn scholarship to our school and to university.  Currently we have our league of legends teams, Fortnite players, NBA 2K and have plans for Rocket League and other games that our students enjoy playing!  Captain Johnson D (12th grader from China) leads a team of 9 from all over the globe and they have done well under Coach Mike Kubasek and Team Manager Rev. Dr. Victor Chayasirisobhon!  Next week we play Mater Dei Catholic High School who is currently ranked #22 and we hope to keep our win streak going!

Dear ADCS Family,

I regret to inform you that per the government, we need to move our classes online for our high school for a TEMPORARY PERIOD.  Our Easter Break was scheduled to begin on March 25th, 2020 with Stanford Achievement Testing.  This testing will be moved to the end of the year and will be optional this year for our students.  Students will have online learning through their class Facebook Groups and other internet means through March 24th, 2020.  

All of our salaried staff will continued to be paid throughout this closure and I will be in touch with each student throughout the closure but especially my Biology and Science classes.  The office will remain open until March 27th and then go on the normal Easter Break as planned.  THE SCHOOL WILL REOPEN TUESDAY, APRIL 14th at 8:30 am.

We challenge all of our parents and guardians to encourage their students to get their work done.  My Biology students will still have their Muscle/Skeletal exam.  We will begin immune system as planned next week.  All students have been instructed to take all their books home.  If they forget something at school, I can always be contacted via messenger or email and we can coordinate how to get them to their locker.

We are still planning to have an amazing prom, grad nite, eSports will continue online as eSport athletes login from home and take instruction from the coaches, the Magi Golf team will likely still compete for the CIF State Championship.  Also as I told my students, work hard and don’t worry about your grades too much, we all understand there are special circumstances and we will accomodate them.

This is a unique time in the world’s history and certainly in the history of the United States.  We are living in history and we understand the challenges that come with it.  I have four children ages 11, 10, 6 and 2 so I know the challenges that many of you are facing.  Yet we will step up to the challenge and we will be better because of it.

To all ADCS Families and future students,

As many of you have been following on the news, the challenge of the COVID19 pandemic has hit our shores and because of that fittingly many schools, businesses, and churches are taking on the challenge and taking extreme precautions and closing during this time and going to online classes.  We are prepared and ready to go online as well if we need to.  We are also ready to do home visitations and one on one tutoring sessions via the internet or even in person.

There have been NO students, faculty, or families that have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  Our facility is cleaner than it has ever been.  If our students get sick we have been sending them to the doctor to get checked or holding them out for 14 days.  Our students also know to stay away from people that have come from stage 3 at risk countries and all of those who are sick.  Many of us culturally already practice social distancing and they understand the plan.  They are happy and ready to finish up their 3rd quarter of school.  They were ready to go on their healthy Easter Break.  With the way things are going, it may be longer and healthier than anyone could have imagined.

We are monitoring the situation hourly and making the best determination in terms of their education, well-being and future.  As of today, THE SCHOOL IS STILL OPEN and we are planning to return next week.  If we are unable to return, you will be able to see the plan here at this website and an email will go home to let them know that we have shifted to online, remote access education for a short period of time.  THIS TOO SHALL PASS.  The Lord remains with us and we continue to have faith in Him.  We love all of our students and as usual will love them, interact with them and monitor them throughout the Easter break or even the extended Easter Break.  

Our job is to prepare our students for life.  They are going to get to apply some of that preparation in the weeks to come.  This a unique world situation and ADCS Magi students WILL ANSWER THE CALL.

WE HAVE ALSO BEGUN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NEXT YEAR AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE FRESH GROUP OF STUDENTS WHO COME IN FROM ALL OVER OUR COMMUNITY AND THE WORLD.  We pride ourselves in educational excellence, college acceptance, and the growth of our boys and girls into amazing young women and young men.  Click on the prospective students link above if you are interested in applying.

Will we win the CIF State Championship in Golf?  How will prom and Grad Nite be this year?  Who will win prom king and queen?  How will our eSports League of Legends team do?  I can tell you this, we are planning an amazing 4th quarter because we have the best teachers and the most amazing students.  Everyone keep your head up, the Lord is with us and I am privileged to lead you through this.  May God Bless all of you and keep you healthy and strong.

With the first quarter coming to a close our ADCS students have been doing great!  Some highlights of our school year include:

• 91% of our students with GPAs over 3.8 after the 1st quarter
• Celebration of Life Halloween Community Carnival had over 700 attendees with over 100 student volunteers from our school.  The community was fed, given gifts, many heard about Jesus Christ, and the children from our neighborhood had a safe place to trick or treat!
• Our student council led by President Christine Nguyen fed the whole school during our Thanksgiving Feast that happened after chapel before the Thanksgiving Holiday!
• Senior Titita Loudtragulngam competed and advance all the way to the CIF State Championships in Poppy Hills Golf Course and finished in the top 20!  This is after winning the San Joaquin League Championship, making the cut in the CIF Divisional, Regional, and SCGA Championships!  We are so proud of her!  She has already accepted a full scholarship to the University of Tulsa Oklahoma!
• Our student populations sits at 168 students that have become like a family with new friendships made.
• All of our seniors applying to Cal State Universities and University of California have been assisted and applications are in as we wait for the good news of their acceptances in the Spring 2020!
• Senior Taehoon Song, captain of our ADCS golf team, has accepted a full scholarship to the University of Washington and readies himself to lead our boys golf team in league and CIF competition in the fall.  In 2017 we finished #2 overall in the CIF State Championships, in 2018 we made it the regional championships, and in 2019 we finished #6 in the CIF State Championships!  We are hoping to win it all this Spring but we face stiff competition with a lot of great teams out there!
• Our students continue to thrive in our many EP classes in preparation for the AP tests including AP US History, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Psychology, and Statistics.
• Our ESL classes continue to be successful helping students learn, improve and enhance their understanding of the English language and American culture
• Our Magi Cross Country team competed hard and did well in the league finals improving on their times from last year
• Our ADCS Magi Basketball teams both boys/girls continue to prepare for the coming season with the boys team readying themselves to play in the Liberty Christian Basketball Tournament December 16-20th.  Led by Coach of the Year Joe Lam, our #2 basketball team looks to get to CIF playoffs again and compete for the State Championship
• Game Development and ESports programs continue to be developed at a rapid pace with tournaments in Mortal Kombat and NBA 2K coming in the beginning of the new year and Fortnight/Modern Warfare in the Spring. 
• Plans for Winter Formal on January 30th have been finalized as well as Grad Nite 2020 at Disneyland!

It’s almost that time again!  The new school year is upon us and as we say here at ADCS it is better and better every year.  Alumni frequently come and say, “I wish I had that when I was here” and we are so glad to hear that from them especially when they tell us how well they are doing in college/uniiversity and beyond!

We are excited to meet all of our new students and embrace all of our returning students!  We have missed you over the summer even the ones that were just here 3 weeks ago for summer school!

September 9th is the first day of school and we will be in the chapel at 8:30 am!

September 3rd to 6th is registration days and will be handled according to the following schedule.

• September 3rd – 6th to 9th graders
• September 4th – 10th graders
• September 5th – 11th graders
• September 6th – The great class of 2020 our 12th graders!

At registration day, you will have the opportunity to do the following:  

• Pay for tuition
• Pick your classes (if you paid for tuition)
• Sign up for one of our many sports teams and get ready to tryout (Fall Season – Cross Country, Girls Golf, Winter Season – Basketball, Spring Season – Badminton, Golf and Cross Country)
• See some of your teachers
• Take selfies with our different Welcome Back selfie stations

We are excited to see all of you and unhatch all of the exciting new plans and venues we have on our campus this coming year.  We are most excited about the memories we are going to make and the times we are going to share as we celebrate the great victories on the fields and courts but also in the classrooms as you do well in school and get into great colleges/universites!  May God Bless you and we will see you next week!

Come join the family whose Magi Golf Team went to the CIF state championship this year after advancing as the Southern California regional runner up, Central Coast Divisonal Runner up, and CIF League Champions for 2 years in a row!  Our golf team has not lost a league game in 4 years and has finished as high as #2 in the entire state of California.  Our boys basketball team was #2 in the whole league led by Coach of the Year Joe Lam, and Player of the Year Kevin Zhao from China!  We also have cross country, track and field, badminton, girls basketball, and soccer!

Come learn subjects from basic math all the way to Calculus, from World History to AP US History, from Chemistry to AP Biology, and much, much more!  We have 5 level ESL program and a strong English program that helps students to be college ready in less than 2 years!

Our graduates are now doctors, lawyers, engineers, businessmen and most importantly are people of great character, marrying for life, knowing what God’s love is, respecting and honoring their parent’s culture and religion, and making the world a better place for humanity.

We teach Christian theology with chapel every week, a student led worship band, bible classes each year that teach you how to be a godly person, and teachers who model it for you.

Finally we have clubs and extracurricular activities such as dance club, martial arts club, cultural clubs, and computer clubs.  We have winter formal, prom, spirit days and the chance even to serve on student council and be presidwent of the whole school.

Anaheim Discovery Christian School continues to grow and expand into the new year and we are excited to meet so many of our new students!  We continue to enroll students from all around the world from countries such as Thailand, China, France, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia, Japan, Taiwan, Slovakia and we can’t wait to meet you!  We also have students from all around the USA but especially from Orange County!  

Our sports team continue to be very successful as we move into the Winter Season of sports.  Our Magi Boys Basketball Team remains undefeated (4-0) due to the passion and heart of students who have come together as a family, our Lady Magi girl’s basketball team is also doing very well ending 2018 strong with a string of victories.  We are excited not just to accept students that have played their whole lives but also students who are just learning to play with both varsity and junior varsity levels.  Our boys soccer (or futbol/football around the world) team continues to compete hard and find their place in the Western Athletic Conference.  In February, our GOLF SEASON begins.  ADCS finished 2nd in the state in golf in 2017 and reached the semifinals in 2018 due to player obligations to play elsewhere but the great thing is all of our graduating senior golfers went on to full scholarships to the universities of their choice.  We have begun a junior varsity golf team this year to train up a new generation of golfers behind our elite players and we are very excited about that!

Many of our seniors continue to receive acceptance letters from the universities they applied to in September and we are so proud of all of them with acceptances to illustrious schools like Washington State University, Cal Baptist University, Biola, Asuza Pacific, New York, and Chicago.  We are so proud of all of them.
